Home to the “Annual Cousin Jake Memorial Bluegrass Festival,” that takes place in March. Jake Tullock, Etowah native, played bass with Flatt and Scruggs for 20 years, and the festival honors him as well as his music. The Gem has its own resident theater company – the Gem Players who offer live performances throughout the year. Built in 1927, this historic movie house has been renovated for contemporary use as a performance center.
